Wading River fishing charter.
15 minutes west — fish the water off your own beach.
Captain Skippy Charters is Wading River's private fishing charter option — about a 15-minute drive west on Route 25A to our dock at Mount Sinai Marina. The good news: the shoals right off Wading River are exactly where we fish for fluke, porgies and fall blackfish. Same water, private boat, USCG-licensed captain with 20+ years running it.
Fish the water you already look at
Wading River sits on some of the best fluke and porgy structure in the central Long Island Sound. The sandy edges and rock ledges from Wading River west through Shoreham and Rocky Point produce summer fluke drifts and porgy drops most days from June through September, and shift to fall blackfish (tautog) when the water cools in October and November. From our dock the run to the Wading River grounds is about 15 minutes — most of the trip is fishing, not running.
Trip menu
- Half-Day Mixed Bag ($600 / boat, 5 hours, 1–4 anglers, May 1 – Oct 10) — striped bass, bluefish, fluke, sea bass, porgies.
- Fall Blackfish ($700 / boat, 6 hours, Oct 11 – Nov 30) — the tog trip, custom rigs, live green crabs.
- Custom trips — family days, corporate outings, sunset cruises and more.
Why not a Riverhead or East End launch?
Wading River sits between two worlds — the central Sound (our territory) and the Peconic Bay / East End charter scene. For the Sound-side species (fluke, porgy, tautog, striped bass) our Mount Sinai launch is actually closer to the productive water than most Riverhead launches, and the Sound is calmer than the Bays on windy days. If you want a striped bass or a keeper tog, we're your shorter drive and shorter run.
