Why fish with Skippy

Real local knowledge. No shared boats. Just the catch.

Most charter operations stuff six strangers on one rail and call it a day. We don't. Every trip is yours alone — your party, your pace, your spots.

Fully credentialed

USCG-licensed 50-ton Master with OUPV (six-pack) endorsement. Insured boat. Coast Guard safety-equipped.

Local water expertise

Two decades of logged seasons on this exact stretch of the Sound. The structure, the tides, the patterns — all in our heads.

Always private

1–4 anglers per trip, max. You won't share the boat with strangers. Bring the family, the buddies, or the bachelor party.

Everything included

Rods, reels, bait, tackle, and NY fishing licenses are all on us. We even clean, fillet and bag your catch — free.

Built to find fish

The Christina M II runs a Minnkota trolling motor and modern electronics to keep you on the bite when conditions get tough.

Easy to book, easy to reach

Text, call, or email Skippy directly. No middlemen, no third-party platforms, no surprise fees.

Meet Captain Skippy

Two decades. One stretch of water. He knows where they live.

Captain Skippy isn't a name on a brochure — he's the guy at the helm, the guy tying your knots, the guy who's been fishing the central Long Island Sound longer than most charter operations have existed. He's earned his 50-ton Master and OUPV credentials the long way: by spending real seasons reading these tides.

"Booked Skippy for my bachelor party — four of us, three doubled up at one point. Came home with a cooler of fluke and sea bass and the best photos of the weekend."

Common questions

Everything you want to know before booking.

Where does the boat leave from?

All trips depart from the Mount Sinai Marina Commercial Fishing Dock at 199 Harbor Beach Road, Mount Sinai, NY 11766. It's on the north shore of Long Island, about 10 minutes from Port Jefferson. We'll send detailed directions and a map with your booking confirmation.

How much is a trip and what's the gratuity?

Half-day mixed-bag charters run $600. Fall blackfish trips are $700 for 6 hours. Both prices are for the boat (1–4 anglers). A 20% minimum gratuity is customary and goes directly to the captain.

Do I need a fishing license?

No. You're covered under our New York State charter license while you're on the boat. We supply all rods, reels, bait and tackle as well. Just bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, snacks, and the cooler stays smaller-than-XL.

What happens if the weather's bad?

Captain has full authority to cancel any trip due to weather, sea state, or safety. If we cancel, your $150 deposit is refunded in full or you can reschedule. If you cancel, the deposit is non-refundable — that's how charter fishing works everywhere.

Can you take a fifth person?

The boat is set up for 1–4 anglers for comfort and fishing room. A fifth passenger can sometimes be added for +$150 on a case-by-case basis — just ask when you inquire.
