Captain Skippy Charters is Shoreham's fishing charter — about a 10-minute drive west on Route 25A to our Mount Sinai dock. And here's the thing: the shoals immediately off Shoreham are literally where we take you to fish. If you're wondering whether there's good fishing right off your beach, the answer is yes — and we know exactly where.

The Shoreham shoals

The bottom structure from Shoreham east through Wading River is one of the most productive stretches of the central Long Island Sound for fluke and porgies in the summer, and for blackfish (tautog) in the fall. These are drop-and-stick fisheries where we work light tackle over sand-and-rock edges — the kind of fishing that fills a cooler steadily and keeps first-timers hooked. From our dock in Mount Sinai to the Shoreham shoal is about a 10-minute run at cruising speed.

Trips we run out of your area

• Half-Day Mixed Bag — $600 / boat, 5 hours, 1–4 anglers, May 1 – October 10. Fluke, sea bass, porgies and striped bass on the Shoreham water.
• Fall Blackfish — $700 / boat, 6 hours, October 11 – November 30. Rocky structure just east of Shoreham is prime tog water.
• Custom trips — sunset cruises, family trips, group parties. Call to build the day.

Short run advantage

A lot of Shoreham anglers grew up watching charter boats work offshore and wondering how much of the trip is just the run out. On our boat, the answer is: barely any. Because we launch from Mount Sinai (basically your neighbor) and fish the water right off your beach, more of your paid time is actually fishing. That matters when a half-day is 5 hours.

Directions from Shoreham

Take Route 25A west about 8–10 minutes to Mount Sinai. Right on Harbor Beach Road, past the marina guard booth, first left into the Town Marina lot. Far east side at the loading ramp — Christina M II, first dock.
