Riverhead & North Fork fishing charter.
35 minutes west — central LI Sound, not the Peconic Bays.
Captain Skippy Charters serves the Riverhead and western North Fork area — a 35–40 minute drive west on Route 25 / 25A to our dock at Mount Sinai Marina. If you live or vacation on the North Fork and want a private Long Island Sound trip rather than a Peconic Bay or Montauk East End trip, we're your Sound-side option.
Why book west out of Mount Sinai?
The Peconic Bays and Montauk get most of the North Fork's fishing attention, and for good reason. But the central Long Island Sound is a different fishery — bigger stripers on structure, real blackfish grounds in the fall, and less pressure than the Peconics on a summer weekend. When the East End charters are booked out or the Bays are chopped up in the wrong wind, we're often a good alternative. From Riverhead we're actually a shorter drive than driving out to Greenport for a private boat.
What we run
- Half-Day Mixed Bag (May 1 – October 10, $600 / boat, 5 hours, 1–4 anglers) — striped bass, bluefish, fluke, sea bass, porgies on the central LI Sound.
- Fall Blackfish (October 11 – November 30, $700 / boat, 6 hours) — tautog on rocky structure — arguably the best tautog water on the East Coast.
- Sunset trips — afternoon departures 3:00–5:00 PM catch the evening bite.
Vacation rentals + weekend groups
A lot of our Riverhead / North Fork customers are weekend visitors renting on the Fork who want a fishing trip during their stay. The half-day format fits easily into a Saturday morning without eating the whole day, and you're back with cleaned fish in time for dinner on the deck.
