Captain Skippy Charters is the private fishing charter serving the Middle Island area — about a 20-minute drive north to our Mount Sinai dock via Route 25 and Route 25A. If you're in Middle Island and looking for a genuine Long Island Sound fishing trip without an East End drive, this is your closest private charter.
Central Suffolk convenience
Middle Island sits in the middle of Suffolk County — which means we're the closest north-shore charter to your area by a good margin. The trip is a straight run north to Route 25A, then east into Mount Sinai. Twenty minutes and you're at the dock; ten more and you're fishing.
What we run
Half-Day Mixed Bag (May 1 – October 10, $600 / boat, 5 hours, 1–4 anglers) targets striped bass, bluefish, fluke, black sea bass and porgies on the central Long Island Sound. Fall Blackfish (October 11 – November 30, $700 / boat, 6 hours) targets tautog on rocky structure. Both trips include all tackle, bait, and your NY State fishing license under our charter license. Fish are cleaned and bagged at the end of the trip.
Family-friendly and beginner-friendly
The Christina M II is a 26-ft Down East with a heated cabin and a functioning head — comfortable for kids, grandparents, and anyone new to saltwater fishing. Captain Skippy has been teaching first-timers for 20+ years and picks the trip style based on the group. Kids get kid-sized life jackets. Everyone gets real fishing room — no packed head-boat rail.
Directions from Middle Island
From Middle Island, take Route 25 west to the Rocky Point turn, then Rocky Point–Yaphank Road north to Route 25A. Turn west (left) on 25A into Mount Sinai (about 8 minutes). Right on Harbor Beach Road, past the guard booth, first left into the Town Marina lot. Christina M II at the first dock, far east side.
